                 #Gabon: 15 eco-guides on the market


 

Organized by the National Agency for National Parks (ANPN) and WCS, training of nine months in Lope, enabled 15 young people to receive, on September 19, their certificates of release.

Launched in January 2014 by Lope ANPN WCS and with the financial support of the European Union through the Ecofac V program BGFI-Bank Foundation and the American Wildlife Service (USFWS), the session training ecoguides ended September 16, 2014 by the defenses of impétrants. The training was supervised speaks Deputy Director of Examinations Training.

The overall objective of this project was to train ecoguides network of national parks in Gabon. "It should be remembered that the tourists who had the opportunity to visit the national parks of Gabon were particularly amazed by the exceptional biodiversity they are full. However strong recommendations are regularly issued on the need to strengthen the capacity of guides in the interpretation of landscapes, cultures and English usitée by ¾ of visitors who come to Gabon local communities ", said the Executive Secretary Assistant ANPN. "In the absence of a cap on earlier initiatives through a formal framework for certification of being a guide in African rainforest, training initiatives undertaken to date remain isolated and difficult to assess and improve," said Omer Ntougou.

So these are 15 eco-guides including 3 girls who have received basic training in support of tourists rainforest. The training consisted of two sessions a theoretical and immersion course and an internship production company. The various speakers delivered theoretical training with practical exercises regularly as provided in the training manual. 27 modules have been successfully delivered. The course of training, educationally, was followed regularly by the National Agency for training and professional development (ANFPP) and the Ministry of Vocational Training. "This training allows you to experience the challenges of the match between training and the professional world by involving private operators, environmental professionals, ANPN the ANFPP and WCS in a common approach to building capacity of eco-guides to real needs and constraints of the labor market ", said Omar Ntougou.

It should be noted that the training has been audited and approved by a professional guide: Flip Nicholson, president of the Girl Guides Association of Zimbabwe, who works in this vein in southern Africa for 35 years.
