#Gabon: Return the results of the technical assistance on the evaluation of forest biomass

 The Ministry of Forestry, Environment and protection of natural resources held in Libreville on Friday, a workshop on the presentation of the results of technical assistance on the evaluation of forest biomass made ​​in Franceville province of Upper Ogowe under the 'Development of a forest resource inventory system natural' project '.


This workshop showcased not only the results of technical assistance on the evaluation of forest biomass process, but also to highlight the important contribution of the Japanese system of international cooperation (JICS) in the implementation of project.

We must remember that the city is part of the conservation and preservation of forest ecosystems of Gabon, through the pillar 'Gabon green' articulated: the use of forest products, including biomass and non-timber forest products, sustainable forest management, the promotion of ecotourism through the diversity of flora and wildlife of Gabon. Not to mention the valuation of the long coastline of 800 km and use of freshwater and funding by the carbon resources.

This project also aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.

For the implementation of the project, the Gabonese government has signed a number of agreements with the Japanese Government, namely, the technical cooperation agreement, the grant agreement and the money deal.

The project also receives technical support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and logistical and material support from the Japanese International Cooperation System (JICS).

Moreover, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supported the Gabonese experts in achieving the purely technical, while the Japanese system of international cooperation (JICS) provides equipment to the project and is responsible for strengthening the operational capacity of personnel.
