#Gabon: Teaching: UOB become more open to international

The Omar Bongo University has just entered into two partnerships with the Federal University of Astrakhan and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD).

The Omar Bongo University (UOB) has provided a framework, Sept. 15, at the signing of two agreements between the institution and the Federal University of Astrakhan, and the Institute of Research for Development (IRD). Through the first agreement, Gabon intends to strengthen the bonds of cooperation in the fields of education and scientific research. A partnership that "will allow for the exchange of students, professors and scientists." "This will also be the legal framework for the open courtyards of Russian remote Libreville, Gabon to allow much to learn, especially for students who go to Russia to continue their studies (... ) Currently, the number of scholarships offered by Gabon Russia increased from 6 to 14, "said the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Gabon, Dmitry Kourakov.

The rector of the UOB, Marc-Louis Ropivia, for his part, stressed that through this partnership, we are talking to redeploy diplomacy. "I think it's a new momentum that is taking root with Russia and we know that this agreement will be fruitful. In any case, we will do everything to UOB for the various players are getting into, "he was assured.

The agreement with the IRD, meanwhile, is part of a consensus adopted in March 2013, with many Gabonese universities like the University of Masuku, the National School of Water and Forests (ENEF ), the international Centre for medical Research (CIRMF); French and some NGOs. Thus, "UOB is now the 18th academic institution that belongs to a consortium called Ecotrop (School of Tropical Ecology, Ed) which is an open door ground for Gabonese students in the areas of research on environment and sustainable Development ", welcomed Richard Oslisly archaeologist Central Africa, IRD, and continues:" Research is the poor relation because few people are moving towards it and despite this fabulous territory on which we can work, we have not yet real working wheels. Currently, students are more in theory than practice. "A trend that Marc-Louis Ropivia intends to reverse. "We promise to encourage our students to turn to the various maritime sectors, environment and sustainable development," he concluded.
